La nueva generación de maestros del ska-jazz se da el gusto de compartir un single con los dos héroes del saxo de la escena ska contemporanea: David Hillyard (The Slackers) y Fred "Rocksteady" Reiter (New York Ska Jazz Ensemble).

Cada uno de los artistas invitados interpreta una composición propia en cada una de las caras del single, liderando la contundente big-band italiana en un tour de force   en el que tanto Hillyard como Reiter nos muestran, cada uno a su manera, su particular pericia y saber hacer. Dos excitantes muestras de la vigencia del ska-jazz de big-band.

The new generation of Italian ska-jazz maestros indulge themselves with a collaboration with the two sax heroes of the contemporary ska scene: David Hillyard (The Slackers) and Fred "Rocksteady" Reiter (New York Ska-Jazz Ensemble).

Each of the guest stars delivers an own penned composition in one of the sides of this limited 500 copies vinyl edition, leading the emphatic big-band into a tour de force in which both Hillyard and Reiter show, each in his own way, their personal expertice and know-how. Two exciting tracks showing that big-band ska-jazz is in full force!

WMR son exploradores en la fusión de ska, jazz y reggae y muestran sin complejos el puente que han construido uniendo la tradición de la escuela escandinava del jazz y la caliente pasión del ska y reggae jamaicanos.

BRIXTON RECORDS se complace en anunciar el lanzamiento del nuevo álbum de la banda noruega WILD MAN RIDDIM.

Brage Rognlien (trombón) buscaba una banda para actuar en las sesiones nocturnas del club The Villa de Oslo. Junto a Martin Caspersen (órgano) comenzaron a llamar a viejos amigos consiguiendo agrupar a los más destacados músicos de ska y reggae de la escena de Oslo. Wild Man Riddim (WMR) nacio así como banda residente de The Villa y un repertorio formado por composiciones de Brage, viejos standards del jazz con un giro jamaicano y mucho espacio para la improvisación. La banda más tarde actuó como backing-band  para  Essa Cham, Kasimba, Nico D, Admiral P, Jah Ark Manifest y otros artistas en el Horten Roots & Reggae Festival del verano de 2013.

En diciembre de 2013 la banda grabó su primer álbum llamado simplemente "Wild Man Riddim" para MarsMelon Records incluyendo una mixtura de ska/jazz/afrobeat y hip hop. Desde entonces WMR ha seguido consolidándose en sus actuaciones en directo y creando nuevas composiciones que ahora conforman su nuevo álbum con el nombre de WORLDWIDE FREQUENCY.

"Worldwide Frequency" es el resultado de ideas planificadas y de espontáneos momentos de improvisación. Ha sido grabado al antiguo estilo; grabado en directo, en 7 horas y en cinta. El álbum muestra a WMR profundizando en la fusión de ska, jazz y reggae, mostrando sin complejos el puente que han construido uniendo la tradición de la escuela escandinava del jazz y la caliente pasión del ska y reggae jamaicanos. Una frecuencia mundial. Bajo estas lineas una muestra, el tema que da título al álbum.

"World Frequency"estará disponible en las más importantes plataformas digitales el próxima día 15 de septiembre y posteriormente en formatos CD y LP-

BRIXTON RECORDS proudly announces the release of the new album by Norwegian band WILD MAN RIDDIM.

Brage Rognlien (trombone) needed a band to perform rythmic music at The Villa, a nightclub in Oslo. Brage and mate Martin Caspersen (organ) called old friends and managed to form a band with Oslo´s finest ska/reggae musicians. The band got a residency at The Villa with a live set based on compositions by Brage, old jazz standards with a Jamaican twist and lots of space for improvisation. Right after that Wild Mand Riddim (WMR) performed as backing band for Essa Cham, Kasimba, Nico D, Admiral P, Jah Ark Manifest and several other vocalists at Horten Roots & Reggae Festival in the summer of 2013.

In december 2013 the band recorded their first LP simply called Wild Man Riddim released on Marsmelons Records, a fine mix of ska/jazz/afrobeat. Since then WMR has consolidated a tight live set  and created new compositions that are now gathered in the new album, WORLDWIDE FREQUENCY.

"Worldwide Frequency"is the result of planned ideas and spontaneous improvisational moments. The whole album was recorded in the old fashioned way: live, on tape, in 7 hours, and reflects WMR as they further explore the links between ska, jazz and reggae, showing without complexes the bridge they have built that spans from the tradition of the Scandinavian jazz school to the warm passion of ska and reggae. A worldwide frequency.

"Woldwide Frequency" will be available on September 15th in most music digital stores, and soon released in CD and LP formats.

Este año Erromo Ska-Reggae Fest celebra sus 20 años. Partiendo de unos humildes orígenes en 1998, el primer sábado de agosto de cada año se ha convertido en una cita obligada para los amantes de los sonidos jamaicanos. Este festival urbano, al aire libre y de asistencia gratuita, es posible gracias a la pasión y esfuerzo de muchas personas que logran hacernos disfrutar de las actuaciones más importantes del panorama internacional de la escena del ska y el reggae, desde leyendas históricas hasta las bandas más nuevas.

La selección de este año del festival internacional vuelve a ser de campanillas contando con la presencia de: BITTY McLEAN, el actual continuador de la tradición más soulful de los vocalistas jamaicanos; unos viejos y queridos amigos que se sienten como en casa en el festi, NEW YORK SKA-JAZZ ENSEMBLE; los catalanes THE OLDIANS, estilosa banda catalana que aún no habíamos tenido la oportunidad de disfrutar en directo y AMA REBEL formación nobel de EH.

Y por supuesto... el festival es posible gracias a la asistencia de aficionados y conocedores de los sonidos jamaicanos  que año tras año se acercan a Romo.

Aprovechamos la celebración para repasar el plantel de artistas que nos han visitado en estos 20 años... y esto no ha hecho más que empezar!
